09.07.2004 The idea of a Darlington-based caterer has made its way into the Irish school curriculum as part of children's education on the environment. Frederick Stehr asked Irish author Glenys O'Connell to write up a story he had about the illegal dumping of rubbish. The Pebble People Save the Day is published by Isle of Wight publishers Coach House Publications.

Each school has developed and put into practice a waste management policy, with help from GLADE, a waste minimisation specialist and Carymoor Environmental Centre.

28.05.2004 School students would be sent on "school safaris" to local environmental hot-spots if advocacy groups Demos and Green Alliance had their way. In a new report, the two non-profits argue that children in urban areas need more access to green spaces if they are not to lose touch with the natural environment.
