26.04.2004 A coalition of churches and Christian agencies is reviving an historic practice of public sermons in the City of London to raise awareness of global economic justice in the run-up to May Day. Attend the first sermon outside the Royal Exchange at 1pm on Friday 30 April.

26.04.2004 Take part in the Churches’ Refugee Network conference on Saturday 22 May, 10am-4pm, London. The organisers aim to bring together church groups that work with or for refugees and asylum seekers to examine current developments in asylum law and practice, and to strengthen the Network.

26.04.2004 Take part in the Global Teacher Project national conference in Manchester, 7-9 May. The Project is a national initiative working with university tutors, their students, and mentors in schools to develop a global dimension in the curriculum.

26.04.2004 The National Youth Agency is launching a new good practice guide and CDROM - Justice, Equality, Our World: Supporting young people's role in strengthening communities - for those working on community cohesion with young people, at a free event in east London, 5 May, 10am-2pm. Newham Youth Parliament and stand-up comedian Shazia Mirza will be performing at the event.

Ben Ingham’s photos offer an intimate portrait of children's innate instinct to retain their childhood in some of the most troubled countries in the world.

19.04.2004 Follow the journeys of 13 British children as they travel around the world to the homelands of their parents and grandparents to discover the differences in culture, society and religion and to examine the contrasts with their lives in Britain. The educational series Rooted begins 25 April for 12 weeks on Channel 5. It is produced by Rooftop Productions and supported by Christian Aid.

Iraqi asylum seekers in the UK and the UN High Commissioner on Refugees believe that the country remains unsafe.
