Learning and training

INTRAC's well-regarded training programme for NGOs runs through to March 2005 in Oxford and London. Courses concentrate on issues around strengthening civil society, organisational capacity building, and programme development. A strong belief in values of social justice, empowerment and the participation of poor people in their own development is reflected in INTRAC's approach to training and learning.

Charities Aid Foundation is unveiling a comprehensive programme of training to help charities increase their resources. Tailored to different charity audiences, the workshop series will run throughout the UK on issues ranging from understanding tax-effective giving, to online fundraising and an introduction to investments. CAF is also offering bespoke in-house training to meet the needs of individual charitable organisations.

The British Institute of Human Rights' Community Outreach Programme (COP) delivers human rights training free of charge to voluntary and community groups working with disadvantaged and vulnerable people. COP training is tailored to the needs of individual organ isations and focuses on the impact that human rights has on specific sectors.

Your organisation exists to change the world – do you and your people have the knowledge required? Fahamu, in conjunction with Oxford University, have prepared eight innovative courses covering human rights, advocacy, finance, fundraising, leadership and writing. The distance learning courses use CD-ROMs, online workshops and email based tutorials to help learners build capacity and apply what they learn immediately.

This year's DSA annual conference will be held in London on 6 November. As well as plenary sessions, there will be 21 workshop sessions. Each workshop will focus on the current controversies, thinking, policy or practice around a different topic with reference to the conference theme of linking research and policy.
