WWF and SustainAbility are calling on owners of the UK media to give environmental issues more airtime. Speaking at the launch of a new report, released on 3 June, environmental campaigner Jonathan Porritt derided the absence of "fun, intelligent, sexy" programmes about issues such as climate change. Porritt also called on media execs to take responsibility for the negative impacts of their output.

The UK government's sustainable development strategy is seriously flawed, says the Sustainable Development Commission, chaired by Jonathon Porritt, in a new report featured in The Independent. The report argues for a radical shift of policies away from conventional economic growth and towards the well-being of society and the planet as a whole.
