The conflict in Darfur has affected more than 2 million people. Approximately 10,000 people have died, and over 110,000 are living as refugees in eight camps along Chads eastern border. Save the Children has launched an emergency appeal for its work in food security, health, child protection, education, water and sanitation in Darfur.

Devastating floods and mudslides have swept the border areas of Haiti and the Dominican Republic. The Methodist Relief and Development Fund is responding through Action by Churches Together, whose local partners can provide food, clothes, medicines and clean water to those in greatest need. Gwalior Children's Hospital Charity, working with poor, disabled, destitute and vulnerable children, women and older people in one of India's most deprived regions, urgently needs support to establish a hospice for children with HIV. "With each child tested positive, our problem grows that much more urgent," says Dr B.K. Sharma, a NHS doctor in the UK who founded and directs the charity. "Please donate to sponsor treatment for these children and help us establish the hospice."

The Survivors Fund (SURF) has launched an online petition to help women survivors of the Rwandan genocide who were infected by HIV+ men during systematic campaigns of rape in 1994. The petition calls on the UK government to pressure international pharmaceutical companies to make antiretroviral treatment more affordable, or free, for HIV+ genocide survivors in Rwanda today.

An international campaign has been launched to lobby the Dominican company Grupo M, which runs the Codevi FTZ at Ouanaminthe, to reinstate 34 Sokowa union members fired on 1 March 2004. The Haiti Support Group is appealing for donations to help keep the struggle going.
