The third Freedom to Creativity Festival of Free Culture, Science and Technology starts today, January 22, in Zagreb. The Festival, organized by the Multimedia Institute, will end January 27, 2007. The main topic of this yearÂ’s festival will be radio frequency spectrum as a public good, the open communication standards and civic participation in creation of media.

Today, January 16, 2007, the interactive installation Index of Women by Andreja Kuluncic starts in Split, with placating of posters in the urban space. The installation is part of the international “Women in Crossroads of Ideologies” programme, prepared by Ana Peraica and organized by the Croatian Association of Painters, Split.

On Saturday, January 20, 2007, the Croatian Association of Painters – Split opens an exhibition to mark the start of a one-month programme Woman at the Crossroads of Ideologies, prepared by Ana Peraica. The programme includes exhibitions, film and video screenings, mini-symposium, round-table discussions and the opening of the first women reading room.

Washington, D.C., December 11, 2006 – Tumaini Letu (Our Hope), a film about three women caring for children orphaned by AIDS, was named Best Short Documentary at the 2006 New York AIDS Film Festival. Produced by the Academy for Educational Development (AED), the festival aims to utilize visual media to prompt social action in the fight against AIDS.
