01.05.2007 UNESCO, on the occasion of Global Action Week (April 23-29) in favour of Education for All, has launched a report titled "Education under Attack". Based on research undertaken by U.K-based journalist and education specialist Brendan O'Malley, the report highlights the violent attacks on educational systems that are depriving children of their right to education. The report reveals that 40% of the world's 77 million out-of-school children live in conflict-affected countries like Iraq, Afghanistan, and Columbia.
