22.06.2004 The OSCE Mission to Croatia today issued two reports on war crime trials conducted in Croatian courts acknowledging recent improvements but concluding that additional reform is needed to provide for impartial domestic adjudication of war crimes in all Croatian courts.

21.06.2004 Between 200 and 300 participants of the “Zagreb Pride” gay parade gathered last Saturday on Zrinjevac and proceeded, with strong police protection, through the streets of downtown Zagreb.

Yelling “Gay is OK” and “Love is Love” slogans, the participants in the parade promoted the rights of homosexual, bisexual and trans-sexual persons.

18.06.2004 European Union leaders declared that Croatia is a candidate for membership in the bloc and will begin accession negotiations early next year, sources said.

17.06.2004 The Government of Croatia plans to celebrate the winning of the EU Candidate Status and the start of the negotiations, says the unofficial information. The celebration should take place this Saturday, on the central Ban Jelacic Square in Zagreb.

16.06.2004 In spite of the fact that Croatia invest important efforts to comply with the minimal standards for eradication of human-trafficking, it’s progress since last year has been inadequate, estimates the US Department of State.

15.06.2004 The environmental association “Sunce” from Split, Croatia, invites all interested citizens to come to the opening of the “Road to Home” Exhibition. The opening will be held at the cellar of the Diocletian’s Palace in Split, on June 17, 2004. The exhibition will be closed on June 25, 2004.

14.06.2004 The ZELENA AKCIJA and RODA – Parents Action associations will organize, on Thursday, June 15, an action named “A Little Walk Through Zagreb”. The walk will start at 18:00 hours.

11.06.2004 An informal meeting of the Ministers of European Integrations of the SEE counties was held in Dubrovnik yesterday. The meeting was organized by the Ministry of European Integrations of the Republic of Croatia.

10.06.2004 The officials from the Bureau for Prisoners of War and Missing Persons of the Ministry of Family, War Veterans and Generational Solidarity, took over the remains of the four persons exhumed at the cemeteries of Sremska Mitrovica and Novi Sad. The takeover procedures took place at the Ilok-Backa Palanka border crossing between Croatia and Serbia and Montenegro. The DNA analysis of the remains determined that the four persons were on the list of prisoners and missing persons from the Croatian Homeland War.

09.06.2004 Over 43 percent of children in Croatia live in families with poor property status, 43 with medium status, while only 14 percent live in relatively well off families, which places Croatia in the lower ranks of the list of 35 countries in which a Health Behaviour In School Aged Children (HBSC) survey on children behaviours was conducted.

07.06.2004 The OSCE Mission to Croatia presented on Wednesday, June 2, a report calling on the Croatian authorities to enhance human rights protection by strengthening domestic institutions and harmonizing legislation with the European Convention on Human Rights.

07.06.2004 Representatives of the City of Osijek and six non-governmental associations from the region signed a contract which grants 100.000 Kuna from the City Budget for projects in the field of environmental protection.
