Minister of Health, Andrija Hebrang, confirmed in a statement for Jutarnji List daily and Croatian TV, that two patients that underwent surgery in September 2003 at the Rebro Clinical Centre in Zagreb, contracted HIV through polluted blood transfusion.

The Croatian Journalists Association (HND) expressed its worries over the suspended prison sentence for Ljubica Letinic, Croatian Radio reporter. Letinic was sentenced on the slender and libel lawsuit by the Municipal Court in Split.

Yesterday, at Gradina, near Kozarska/Bosanska Dubica, the representatives of Bosnia and Herzegovina, Croatia and the European Commission opened for traffic the repaired bridge over Una River, in the place where it runs into Sava River. The bridge was heavily damaged in the war and was closed for traffic for the past 12 years.

Osijek Greens association estimates that the summer campaign for demolition of illegally constructed building, conducted by the Ministry of Environmental Protection and Spatial Planning, has to spread to continental Croatia, too, especially in the protected areas in Slavonija and on the banks of Drava and Danube rivers.

The RODA association (RODitelji u Akciji Parents Action) expressed its surprise at the comments of the Members of Parliament from the ruling HDZ, during the debate in the Sabor, that the amount of maternity leave compensation for the first six months should not be delimited, having in mind that there are few women with high salaries, therefore, they dont impact the birth-rates in Croatia in any significant fashion.
