The Croatian Women Network reported on April 17 that the Bureau of Associations (established by the Government to pursue professional and other activities related to creation of conditions for partner relations and inter-sectoral cooperation with the NGO sector) contradicts, with its actions, the goals and aims for which it was set up, as pursuant to the Directive on Associations.

On the occasion of the Global Youth Service Day, April 18, a public debate was held in Krizevci, on the subject of Real Needs and Capacities of Krizevci Youth. The Youth Associations in Krizevci brochure was presented at the debate. Later in the day, the Project Youth in the Town Council was presented in the Krizevci Town Hall.

The Croatian Guide Dog and Mobility Association started a volunteer action to build a guide dogs and mobility centre in Zagreb. The action, assisted by the citizens and sponsors, should provide for training of a greater number of guide dogs and improved quality of living for a greater number of persons with impaired vision.

The Croatian Bioethics Society, the Croatian Society of Agronomists, the Eko Kvarner association and the Action for EKO association, sent letters to the Croatian Sabor (the Parliament), the President of the Republic and the Prime Minister, in which they demand that a general referendum is called on the legislative regulation of application of genetically modified organisms in Croatia.

New illegal waste dumps appear in the protected water resources areas around the city of Osijek. The citizens of Osijek criticize the Ministry of Environmental Protection and warn of the illegal waste dumps and the danger from the presence of agricultural chemicals that could poison the natural water source.
