26.12.2006 Last Wednesday, December 20, the Constitutional Court ruled to annul the provision from the 2004 Law on the Rights of Veterans of the Homeland War and Members of their Families, which gave the right to veterans, their children and children of victims of war to direct enrolment in secondary and higher education institutions, provided that they passed the lower limit for necessary points in entry exam.

25.12.2006 Activists of Right to a City initiative and Zelena Akcija environmental organization demanded detailed information on the project to develop the Lower-City block in Zagreb, between Varsavska, Gunduliceva, Ilica, Preobrazenska Streets and the Petar Preradovic Square.

19.12.2006 The “...Homophobes are Human, Too” Campaign, prepared for Queer Zagreb by Bruketa&Zinic Advertising Agency, was selected among the 3,000 works submitted for the Creativity Annual Award in the U.S.

13.12.2006 Representatives of associations involved in the Green Network of Karlovac County and the Croatian Helsinki Committee, who just returned from London, held a public discussion on Co-existence of the Military and the Environment in the UK. They presented the public with the experiences they acquired in Great Britain, on obligations and actions of the UK Military regarding sustainable development, environmental protection and public health.

13.12.2006 Last Monday, December 11, the iDEMO Democracy Institute organized a roundtable discussion on the topic of Media Freedoms and Human Rights in Croatia in 2006 – The Case of “Glas Istre”. Ivo Banac, independent Member of the Sabor (the Parliament), Andrea Feldman, iDEMO Director and Snijezana Matejcic, reporter with “Glas Istre” and union activist, were the featured speakers.
