The Osjek Greens association sent an open letter today, to all Members of the Sabor (Croatian Parliament), on the occasion of the start of Debate on problems in Pozega-Slavonija County. The open letter demands expansion of investigation and urgent legal measures to stop the work and close the Velicanka 2 quarry, operated by Kamen-Ingrad company from Velika, currently involved in bankruptcy procedures.

The Serb Democratic Forum (SDF) protested the increased frequency of attacks on Ivana Dulic Markovic, Vice-President of Serbian Government, by some media and political parties of the extreme right. Dulic-Markovic is targeted because of her national and ethnic background.

The Draft-Law on Financing of Political Parties was discussed last Monday (September 11), at a conference held at the Croatian Sabor (the parliament). The conference, organized by OSCE Mission to Croatia and the Central Administrative Office, with assistance from Transparency International Croatia and GONG was opened by Sabor Speaker Vladimir Seks, Prime Minister Sanader and Jorge Fuentes, Head of OSCE Mission to Croatia.

Youth Centre Livno organizes an exhibition in the facilities of the Pastoral Offices in Livno. The exhibition, Voluntas, atis f. will be open for visitors from September 12 to September 15, is designed to present the volunteer work done by citizens of Livno, youth in particular, and stimulate them to involve in volunteering. The exhibition was organized with cooperation and support by the SEE Youth Network (SEEYN).

On September 6, the OSCE Mission in Croatia and the Ministry of Science, Education and Sports will launch literary and artistic competition in multicultural schools in Vukovar-Srijem and Osijek-Baranja Districts. The competition is titled Children Together.

Transparency International Croatia commented last week on the implementation of the National Programme for Suppression of Corruption. The implementation, believes Transparency, deserves passing grades. However, in order to reach all projected goals, it is necessary to intensify the activities and improve the coordination of all institutions included in its implementation.

The Centre for Peace Studies (original acronym CMS) sent a letter to Kolinda Grabar-Kitarovic, Minister of Foreign Affairs, and President Stjepan Mesic, proposing Croatian official sponsorship of the UN Resolution on Effective International Control over Exports, Imports and Transfer of Conventional Weapons, recently submitted by the governments of Argentina, Australia, Costa Rica, Finland, Japan, Kenya and Great Britain.
