Between June 27 and June 30, 2007, Zagreb will host the Zagreb Pride 2007 social-political event. This will be the sixth Pride in Zagreb in a row, an event that gathers lesbian, gay, bisexual, transgender, transsexual, intersexual and queer persons. The Pride Parade, the central event will be held on June 30 (Saturday). The Organization board of Zagreb Pride 2007 has already initiated the activities and invites all interesting persons to join the Board.

Provoked by the recent statements by the Speaker of the Sabor (Croatian Parliament) and the Prime Minister that the Government doesnt plan to call for a referendum on Croatian entry into the NATO alliance, as well as the general communication strategy adopted by the Government on that issue, the Peace Studies Centre and Peace, Non-Violence and Human Rights Centre from Osijek prepared an open letter to Croatian political leadership.

The Centre for Peace Studies (CMS) announces the 6th Youth MIRamiDA Peace Building Training for Youth Activists from Croatia. The training takes place in Pula, April 13-20, and the deadline for application expires on March 23, 2007.

The CESI Education, Counselling and Research Centre, in partnership with the Open Media Group (OMG), starts the implementation of the National Campaign for Prevention of Gender-Based Violence. The campaign aims to raise youth awareness about this problem and prevent gender-based violence.

On the occasion of March 8, the International Womens Day, the Croatian Women Network, in cooperation witht he Women Section of the Association of Independent Trade Unions of Croatia and the Women Committee of the Croatian Independent Trade Unions, organized a protest march, starting at former factory Nada Dimic and ending the walk at Kamenita vrata (Stone Portal), as a warning to deteriorating position of women in the labour market.

The MAJA MILES Award, presented annually by the Croatian Women Network for achievement in gender sensitive journalism, for 2007 will go to Orlanda Obad from Jutarnji List and Irena Frlan from Novi List, for their systemic and quality promotion of gender and sexual minorities equality in the media. The Award is presented on March 8, the International Womens Day.

The Serb Democratic Forum (SDF) issued a public statement yesterday, to protest the inadequate housing provisions for Serb returnees into areas under special care by the state. The manners and practice of housing provisions for Serb returnees, claims SDF, are cause of great concern and discriminatory.
