At closer inspection, the legal protection of rights of workers in Croatia seems greatly satisfactory, even in comparison to European Union standards. Law on Labour prohibits all forms of discrimination of those working or seeking employment from discrimination based on race and colour of skin, obligations in the family, age, sexual or even sexual orientation-based discrimination.

The "Peace Caravan" was initiated in 2005 to provide an opportunity to all interested people to contribute to the establishment of lasting peace in the war-torn region of southeast Europe. Events will be held in at least six cities during the month of May.

The Union for the Centre for Youth and Independent Culture which includes Zagreb based organizations working in the are of youth and independent culture, announced, last Wednesday, April 11, the opening of the Temporary Illegal Youth and Culture Centre, during the Operation City: Jedinstvo manifestation that will take place at former factory Jedinstvo, April 26-29, 2007.

At its session of April 4, 2007, the Government of Croatia adopted the draft-Law on Confirmation of Kyoto Protocols to the UN Framework Convention on Climate Change. The draft was prepared by the Ministry of Environmental Protection, Spatial Planning and Construction.

The Vecernji list daily illustrated its yesterdays (April 3, 2007) article on the arrival of IKEA shop in Croatia published on the papers web-site, with a photo of a naked female body tied in S&M props, used as a stand for and IKEA product. The caption of the illustration states that this was IKEA advertisement for the Russian market.

GONG association criticized the Report on the Implementation of the Law on Free Access to Information for 2006, discussed last Friday in the Croatian Sabor, and claims that the data it lists are incorrect and dont correspond to the actual situation in the field.

The second forum of environmental journalist Alert 07 demonstrated that environmental journalism and systematic public information about the environment on mainstream media remains in its embryonic form in Croatia and that it would take a lot of effort for environmental journalists to become influential and strong factor in promotion of environmental protection in the media.
