Guatemalan 9. syyskuuta pidettävistä parlamentin ja presidentin vaaleista on muodostumassa kireät. Oikeistolaisen Partido Patriotan presidenttiehdokkaan Otto Pérez Molina ja keskustavasemmistolaisen Unidad Nacional de la Esperanzan Álvaro Colom ovat mielipidemittausten mukaan lähes tasoissa. Tarkkailijat puolestaan epäilevät vaaliprosessin onnistumista ja demokraattisuutta.
