23.06.2005 'Save the Whales' activists are declaring victory as a Japanese proposal to lift the international ban on commercial whaling was voted down Tuesday. While Korea's abstention was considered a particularly good sign for the endangered species, activists have uncovered new evidence that the underground trade in "accidentally" killed whales is thriving in the country.

Paragliding to Save the Whales in Ulsan, South Korea
16.06.2005 After Greenpeace focused international attention on plans to build a whale meat factory Ulsan, South Korea, the city council has decided not to build the facility, saying it would make the country appear to be pro-whaling and wouldn't be in the national interest. The news comes on the eve of the International Whaling Commission meeting in the country.
