Waste Concern workers unload trash at a composting site in Dhaka
10.06.2005 At the Matuail dumpsite in Bangladesh mountains of rotting garbage produce toxic greenhouse gases and bacteria. But in an innovative NGO project, organic material, with a little help from microorganisms and the climate, is composted into fertilizer. The model has proven so successful that Bangladesh's government has helped to replicate it in 14 cities across the country.
