MSB, a company based in Gdansk in Northern Poland, is seriously in breech of labour legislation rules in regard to its work sites in Finland in what amounts to dumping working conditions. Polish electricians have been paid only 5 hours per hour, a third of the hourly rate laid down by the Finnish collective agreement.

Uusimpien mielipidetutkimusten perusteella kehitysyhteistyö on tuttu asia suurelle osalle puolalaisista, mutta samaa ei voi sanoa kotimaassa tehtävästä kansainvälisyyskasvatuksesta. Suvaitsevaisuus-ja solidaarisuustyöllä on kuitenkin pitkät perinteet Puolassa. Erityisesti siteet entisiin sosialistisiin maihin ovat olleet vahvat.

A cinque anni dallentrata in vigore, il primo marzo 1999, della Convenzione di Ottawa che vieta luso, la produzione ed il commercio delle mine antipersona e a pochi mesi dalla sua prima conferenza di revisione (che si terrà a Nairobi a fine novembre), sono ancora 42 gli Stati che non hanno aderito alla messa al bando di questi ordigni. Tra questi si contano alcuni grandi nomi del Consiglio di Sicurezza delle Nazioni Unite: Cina, Russia e USA; Paesi produttori ed utilizzatori quali India, Pakistan, Nepal, Birmania; e ancora tre dei 25 membri dellUnione Europea: Finlandia, Lettonia e Polonia.
