The main oil pipeline leading to the ARMO oil depot in the town of Lac, north of Tirana, leaked today, releasing over three tons of crude oil in the environment.

An investment company from Puglia, Italy, had a meeting with Anastas Angjeli, Minister of Economy, in Tirana. During the Meeting, they presented their project for the Koplik area, where the company plans to develop an industrial zone. The project will be submitted to the Government for approval.

Today, on the National Orphans Day in Albania, an initiative was presented by a group of Albanian businessmen to open 460 saving accounts for children without parents and parental care. The ceremony was held at the Congress Palace in Tirana.

The International Organization for the Migration, IOM, started a promotional campaign against AIDS in Albania. According to the information available to IOM, the organization estimates that the disease has turned into an accute problem of the Albanian society.

European Cultural Foundation invites young journalists from Central, Eastern and South East Europe to apply for a mobility grant that would enable them to realise a journalistic project involving topics related to a European country other than their own. Articles of a broad European and cultural relevance will receive preference in the selection process.

The Children's Human Rights Centre of Albania - CRCA, the major child rights organisation in Albania, announced today the establishment of the very first professional help-line for children in Albania. The centre called "Tirana Child Helpline" and will be open officially in early May 2005.
