19.01.2006 The Government of Albanian submitted a new, much stricter draft-Law on Tobacco and Smoking for Parliamentary review and debate. The draft will completely outlaw sale of cigarettes to children and minors younger than 18, and will present stricter rules for tobacco industry, regarding sale and advertising of tobacco products.

17.01.2006 Albanian immigrants, who live and work in Greece, protested the killing of the 17 years old boy, Edison Zahaj, in Crete. The Federation of the Albanian Associations in Greece informed that a protest was organized in the capital city of Greece, Athens, on January 15.

This pub in Tirana will be off limits to persons under 18
16.01.2006 No person under 18 years of age shall be allowed access to bars or other establishments selling alcoholic beverages and spirits. The use of alcoholic drinks will be authorised by law. A group of deputies of the Republican Party, led by the vice-chair of the party’s parliamentary club, Lajla Përnaska, drafted a law that was sent to the Albanian Parliament for approval.
