The Initiative Board for StudentsÂ’ Rights, made of representatives of students from all student dormitories in Skopje starts an initiative for a review of the work and operation of Tenants Councils. The announcement was made at the press conference, held today in Skopje, at the NGO InfoCentre.

At the press-conference held today in Skopje, Savka Todorovska from the Union of Women Association of Macedonia SOZM, Elena Guldmadova, Rule of Law Office with the OSCE Mission to Macedonia, and Sonja Lokar, Chairwoman of the Gender Task Force initiative of the Stability Pact, presented the final evaluation of the “Women Can Do It II (2004-2005)” Project.

At the conference for the media, held yesterday in Skopje, the representatives of FOSIM and Association of Units of Local Self-Government ZELS presented the new provisions on free access to information that will have to be integrated into the Municipal Statutes prior to the start of the decentralization process.

The Children’s Parliament of Macedonia held its fifth simulation session at the Parliament of the Republic of Macedonia. At the session, which marked the official closing of the “Days of the Parliament” manifestation, the children adopted the Declaration Against Abuse of Children and the Declaration for Inclusion of Children in the Work of the Local Self-Government.

The student dormitories, the Bologna Declaration, the credentials for the private schools and colleges and the state financing for the SEE University were the main subjects of interest to the students, judging from their inquiries of the Members of Parlieament, in the session organized under the “Days of the Parliament” Events. The “Days of the Parliament” were officially opened yesterday, and will last until May 13.
