Civil NGO will screen four documentary films, under the joint title “My First Shot”, on the language and culture of arms, filmed by children and youth from Skopje and Tetovo. The screening will be held tonight (April 20, Thursday), at the Children Theatre Centre in Skopje’s Old Bazaar. The screening starts at 19:30 hours.

Lina Kosturova-Unkovska, Director of the Centre for Psychosocial and Crisis Action, has worked on post-conflict stress and trauma treatment, as well as community development through activities designed for children, since the start of wars in former Yugoslavia. The Union of Women Associations of Macedonia (SOZM) held a workshop under its Women Can Do It in the Media Project. The workshop, held yesterday, concluded that the medi play a key and decisive role in the creation of opinions and information in the field of gender equality, but they first need to increase their internal gender sensitivity.

How could it happen that today, at the beginning of the 21st Century, in a country that pretends to be (actually claims that it has always been) European, we have attempts within the institutionalized psychiatry, to “treat” homosexuality with hormonal therapy? How can a person, certified as competent by the official system, believe that homosexuality is a biological condition, an illness, that can be treated as physical aberation?

The Constitutional Court of Macedonia decided that the Members of Parliament will retire in accordance with the Law on Pension and Disability Insurance, just like all the other citizens of Macedonia, and annulled a series of provisions from the Law on Members of Parliament Benefits and Privileges that it determined unconstitutional.

The CitizensÂ’ Pact for SEE starts a campaign against the announced raise in EU visa fees. The European Council for Justice and Home Affairs is expected to decide, at the end of April, on EU visa fees increase from EURO 35 to EURO 60 for citizens of third countries. According to announcements, the implementation of new fees will start on January 1, 2007.
