27.09.2006 Mass computer education for all citizens from 18 to 60 years regardless their qualifications and introducing informatics as compulsory subject in primary education are just few of the many pre-election promises in then new government program that are related to accelerated development of information society in Macedonia. In VMRO-DPMNE, the new ruling political party, claims that the establishing of ministry of information society is a certain thing. The ministry will be the bearer of the accelerated ICT introducing in Macedonia program. However, for realisation of this idea the ruling party needs support from the opposition.

26.09.2006 “Vega” Humanitarian Organization from Skopje strongly opposes the idea of the local self-government in Suto Orizari Municipality to change the name of the “July 26” elementary school into “Arben Bajrami” Elementary. VEGA condemned the already adopted decision of the Local School Board that the name should change.

25.09.2006 The Marita Foundation promoted today its new web-site dedicated to the youth in Macedonia, http://youth.marita-mk.org. The web-site will be edited and updated by the young people from the FoundationÂ’s volunteering office and the Children Parliament of Macedonia, in cooperation with correspondents from all parts of Macedonia.

19.09.2006 Within the global activities organized on the occasion of September 21, International Day of Peace, the Ars Studio NGO will open an art and graphic novel exhibition with works by Macedonian and foreign authors. The exhibition will be officially opened on Thursday, September 21, 20:00 hours, at the “Sv. Kliment Ohridski” National and University Library in Skopje.

19.09.2006 The Union of WomenÂ’s Organizations of Macedonia (UWOM) presented its Dictionary of Gender Terms in the Process of EU Integration, aimed to provide for the use of gender sensitive language and respect for equality between women and men.

18.09.2006 On the occasion of the International Day for Protection of Ozone Layer, and under the We Have no Spare Planet, OHO non-governmental organization promoted a picture book and an animated film for children. Ozzie Ozone – Guardian of the Planet aims to educate the children, simply and effectively, on the need to protect the ozone layer.

13.09.2006 The Macedonian Institute for the Media (MIM) and the Institute for Sustainable Communities (ISC) announced the start of the selection process for the media outlet that made the greatest contribution to the development of civil society in 2006.

12.09.2006 Contrary to the widespread opinion that the citizens of Macedonia approach the institutions mainly as holders of demands, disinterested in their own engagemen in the public life and affairs, a study conducted by the Centre for Management and Human Resources of the Institute for Social, Political and Juridical Research (ISPPI) presents encouraging results.

11.09.2006 The issue of education of the Roma population is eminently political and will demand greater practical engagement by the state and its institutions, believes the National Roma Centre from Kumanovo.

01.09.2006 The Macedonian Student Union (MSU) accused the former government of abuse and foul-play in the distribution of accommodation in student dormitories in Skopje. According to MSU, the sad thing is that the problem of student accommodation is treated only as seasonal problem, while it has turned into a chronic problem long time ago.
