Sijoittajakokouksen järjestämisestä päättivät maiden presidentit, Namibian Hifikepunye Pohamba ja Etelä-Afrikan Thabo Mbeki. Maat tiivistivät vastikään yhteistyötään useilla kaupan aloilla.

Suomen Punaisen Ristin tekemä lahjoitus tulee osaksi laajaa, koko eteläisen Afrikan kattavaa kansainvälisen Punaisen Ristin hiv-ohjelmaa.

Konferenssin tuloksena vuoropuhelu EU:n ja Afrikan välillä ajankohtaisista muuttoliike- ja kehityskysymyksissä vahvistuu. Pakolaisneuvonnan mukaan kokous sai kiitosta ainoalta mukana olleelta kansalaisjärjestöltä ECRE:ltä.
