The Action Committee to Save the Bay of Vlora organized a protest, on March 27, 2005, against the planned construction of thermoelectric power plant in the area of Vlora. The protests were joined by numerous environmental organizations from all over the country.

The Theatre Society DASKA, from Sisak, was established in 1976. Ever since the Croatian Rights Party (HSP) entered the local government in 2002, DASKA doesnt receive any funding for its programmes by the city, in spite of the fact that it applies in all competitions for funding. For the past seven years, DASKA survives solely on the financing it receives by the Ministry of Culture.

Nikola Gegaj, Member of Serbia and Montenegro Parliament, strongly condemned the recent attack and beating up of the Vucic couple in Kosovo. He demanded urgent action by UNMIK Police to discover the perpetrators and to make the security of all citizens the priority on the path to establishment of new relations and multiethnic tolerance in Kosovo.

Kosovo Serb couple Nedeljko Vucic, 73, and his wife Nevenka, 71, were attacked and badly beaten in the village of Crkolez, near the Kosovo town of Istok/Istog, yesterday. The couple has been placed in Mitrovica hospital where they are receiving medical treatment for the serious injuries they have got.

Transparency International B&H started the implementation of a new project, a media campaing Responsibility and Transparency in Bosnia and Herzegovina. Srdjan Blagovcanin, the Spokesperson of TI B&H talked to OneWorld about the reasons for the countrys fall from 70th to 82nd place on the Global Corruption Perception Study.

Last week, MANS organized a public debate in Budva, to discuss the problem of corruption in Montenegro. Citizens believe that poverty is one of the main reasons for the prevalence of corruption, and complained about the lack of clear political will to fight the corruption.

UK spending on aid has crept up to 0.36% of national income, barely half of the UN target of 0.7%. The Department for International Development (DFID) says the target will be achieved, but not until 2013.

The danger to make ethnic cleansing and war crimes an important factor of the new Serb national identity is very real.
