13.06.2006 Un anno fa in occasione della visita ufficiale del presidente romeno Traian Basescu a Washington, lo stratega conservatore Bruce Jackson sottolineava davanti alla commissione Esteri del Congresso americano l’importanza del Mar Nero. “Chi controlla la regione del Mar Nero può controllare il vicino e il medio oriente. Entro il 2020 le importazioni delle risorse energetiche dell’Occidente dalla zona raggiungeranno il 70%”. “Quindi” - ha aggiunto Jackson -“sia che si voglia o meno proteggere da ingerenze esterne le nuove democrazie, oppure perché si è interessati alla situazione interna della Russia, siamo costretti a porre attenzione alla zona del Mar Nero”. Oggi il presidente rumeno rivolge nuovamente la sua attenzione al mare Nero e ne fa una pietra miliare della propria politica estera. Il Mar Nero è il futuro spazio della frontiera euro-atlantica - riporta Mihaela Iordache dell'Osservatorio sui Balcani. Una regione dai conflitti congelati e attraversata da rotte di traffici di tutti tipi.
