The People Are Not Happy

Sierra Leone recently emerged from a brutal 11-year civil war which claimed the
lives of thousands and was hallmarked by the arbitrary amputations of civilians.
Although a democratic government was returned to power in 2001, many of the root causes of the conflict still remain. Throughout this film, Ishmahil Blagrove Jr. follows key political figures in Sierra Leone in an effort to evaluate whether, amidst the poverty and corruption, peace can really last.

Man Dem Nor Glady'O is an hour long documentary that explores how the United Nations and other international supporting bodies dealt with the symptoms of the war in Sierra Leone, whilst simultaneously failing to deal with the causes. The guns have been silenced, yet a lack of infrastructure, good overnance and access to basic needs may prove the igniting factors of future conflict. Man Dem Nor Glady'O was filmed on location in Sierra Leone and gives the viewer a stark insight into the real lives and trauma of the conflict - and beyond. The release of this film is especially relevant in its documentation of the presidential campaigns for the forthcoming 2007 elections.
