Interdependence Day 2007: In a host of talks, workshops, music, film, art and games, Interdependence Day 2007 will explore what it means to live in an interdependent world. For anyone who cares about the earth and the people we share it with, Interdependence Day will provide a space to share ideas, meet like-minded people and debate globalisation and environmental change. The new and extraordinary challenges that lie before us at the start of the twenty-first century - creeping globalisation, climate change, both seemingly unstoppable and impossible to fully comprehend - can appear beyond the control of any one person. Finding a way to overcome this fear, and an awareness of the need to take a fresh approach to the defining questions of our time are the inspiration for Interdependence Day 2007. Interdependence Day will reveal our sometimes 'hidden' connections with other people, other communities and the natural world, and how we all depend on each other. By mapping the world as it really is, and as it could be, we can find out way to a world where good lives for all don't cost the earth. Help us make new maps for an Island planet. |
