The Art Fund is taking the critically acclaimed project Queen and Country by Steve McQueen on tour, starting at the Royal Festival Hall. Turner Prize winner and official war artist, Steve McQueen, in collaboration with 137 families whose loved ones have lost their lives in Iraq, has created a cabinet containing a series of facsimile postage sheets, each one dedicated to a deceased soldier. But until real stamps are issued the work, entitled Queen and Country, is incomplete. Visitors will be invited to take part in Steve McQueens vision and sign The Art Funds online petition asking the Royal Mail to issue the stamps over 11,500 people have signed so far at www.artfund.org/queenandcountry Following its display the Royal Festival Hall Queen and Country will travel to the Barbican Centre for the second part of the tour, and then be exhibited at venues around the country; details will be announced on The Art Funds website.
