Since 2002 Margaret has been working as a Development Consultant in the Royal Norwegian Embassy in Zambia. Prior to this she participated in the MS Regional Programme whose main focus was lobbying and advocacy, peace and reconciliation, human and women’s rights as well as cross-cultural exchange and understanding.
Margaret has a Masters Degree in Adult Education from the University of British Columbia and a Bachelors Degree with Education from the University of Zambia. The organisations she has been involved with include: National Literacy Campaign (which she chaired during the International Literacy Year in 1990), Adult Education Association of Zambia (serving as a member), Women’s Network of the African Association for Literacy and Adult Education (implementing and monitoring the network activities for Africa Region), Danish Association for International Co-operation (MS-Zambia) (providing direction and guidance to a nation-wide volunteer programme and contributing to the development of policies) and the Non-Governmental Organisations Co-ordinating Committee (NGOCC) (serving as a member of the M2000 Management Committee).
Margaret values issues of people and community empowerment, placing them at the centre stage of development and has research experience in areas of adult education, human rights, gender, governance, democracy, communication, strategic thinking and planning, and decentralisation and development with interest in Participatory Action Research.
