Our commitment to privacy:
Your privacy is important to us. To better protect your privacy Digital Opportunity Channel provides this notice explaining our online information practices and the choices you can make about the way your information is collected and used. To make this notice easy to find, we make it available on the homepage of this website.
In reporting on named individuals Digital Opportunity Channel recognises that every person (whether poor or rich) has the right to privacy and freedom from intrusion, although Digital Opportunity Channel acknowledges that the privacy of those in public life may be reduced by their public role.
Personal information gathered on the Digital Opportunity Channel website will be shared only in cases where individuals give their explicit consent.
Information collection:
You are never required to provide any personal information in order to use Digital Opportunity Channel for browsing purposes. When we ask for information that personally identifies you, it is used only in providing the information you have requested. For example, if a user wishes to subscribe to our newsletter, we ask for contact information such as name and email address. We use this information to contact the user about services on our site for which he has expressed interest. Out of respect for our users' privacy we provide a way to opt-out of these communications.
Profile
We store information that we collect through cookies and log files to create a profile of our users. A profile is stored information that we keep on individual users that details their viewing preferences. However, this profile is not linked to the user's personally identifiable information.
We use non-identifying and aggregate information to better design our website and to share with our stakeholders. For example, we may tell a donor organisation that X number of individuals visited a certain area on our website, or that Y number of men and Z number of women filled out our registration form, but we would not disclose anything that could be used to identify those individuals.
Finally, we never use or share the personal information provided to us online in ways unrelated to the ones described above without also providing you an opportunity to opt-out or otherwise prohibit such unrelated uses.
Log Files
Like most standard website servers we use log files. This includes internet protocol (IP) addresses, browser type, internet service provider (ISP), referring/exit pages, platform type, date/time stamp, and number of clicks to analyse trends, administer the site, track user's movement in the aggregate, and gather broad demographic information for aggregate use. IP addresses, etc. are not linked to personally identifiable information. We use a tracking utility called WebTrends that uses log files to analyse user movement.
Information use:
Digital Opportunity Channels uses the information you provide about yourself only to provide you the content you have requested. We do not share this information with outside parties.
We use return email addresses to answer the email we receive. Such addresses are not used for any other purpose and are not shared with outside parties.
You can register with Digital Opportunity Channel if you would like to receive our newsletter as well as updates on our new products and services. Information you submit on this website will not be used for this purpose unless you fill out the sign in form.
Communications from the site:
We send all new members a welcoming email to verify password and username. Members will receive our weekly newsletter and occasionally information on new products and services. Out of respect for the privacy of our users we present the option to not receive these types of communications.
Links:
Digital Opportunity Channel website contains links to other sites. Please be aware that Digital Opportunity Channel is not responsible for the privacy practices of such other sites. We encourage our users to be aware when they leave our site and to read the privacy statements of each and every website that collects personally identifiable information. This privacy statement applies solely to information collected by this website.
Data security:
To prevent unauthorised access, maintain data accuracy, and ensure the correct use of information, we have put in place appropriate physical, electronic, and managerial procedures to safeguard and secure the information we collect online.
