Partnership criteria, free trial and fees

If your organisation is interested in joining the OneWorld community as a partner, please read who can be a partner and how to start the application process.

Who can be a partner?

OneWorld UK welcomes all partner applications within the guidelines developed by the broader OneWorld Network.

We invite applications from:

  • organisations working in the fields of sustainable development and human rights (this may include publicising, campaigning, researching or implementing work in these areas); and
  • branches, departments or projects which work in the fields of sustainable development and human rights as part of larger organisations with wider aims (provided the work of the wider organisation does not significantly contravene the aims of OneWorld).

We base our understanding of human rights and sustainable development on the Universal Declaration of Human Rights, the Rio Declaration and other internationally agreed standards.

OneWorld aims for its partnership community to reflect no single orthodoxy but rather to nurture debate and to value difference by promoting inclusive and participatory global communication.

Who cannot be a partner?

OneWorld cannot approve partnership applications from the following:

  • organisations whose activities significantly contravene OneWorld's mission of promoting human rights and sustainable development;
  • organisations directly or indirectly involved in the use of violence;
  • organisations advocating intolerance on grounds of ethnicity, gender, disability, sexual orientation or religion; and
  • political parties.

Commercial organisations are not specifically excluded but may be asked to demonstrate how their activities support the mission of OneWorld.

OneWorld may also refuse applications on the basis of editorial judgements, including the quality, timeliness, relevance or presentation of information on a prospective partner's website.

Free trial partnership and fees

OneWorld UK offers all new partners free trial partnership for the first three months. After this, we need to charge a modest annual subscription fee to help us meet our operating costs.

We ask UK and Ireland partners to contribute on a sliding scale linked to their income:

Band Income Annual fee
A up to £99,999 £150
B £100,000 - £499,999 £275
C £500,000 - £999,999 £400
D £1,000,000 - £4,999,999 £500
E £5,000,000 and over £600

VAT is added to these fees. There is a special rate of £50 for organisations with an income below £40,000 p.a. The partner selects the appropriate band.

If our fees present a serious financial barrier to your ability to participate in the OneWorld community, then please contact us. In special circumstances we do accept in-kind services against annual fees.

If you have further questions about partnership, please contact us at uk@oneworld.net
