What are Dgroups and why use them?
Dgroups (www.dgroups.org) are a new web-based tool for dialogue and collaboration. Whether you are supporting a team, a group, a network, a partnership or a community, Dgroups can help you do this very effectively. Dgroups currently support over 250 working groups and network, containing over 5,000 members. Organisations such as Oxfam, UNICEF and UNAIDS have all used Dgroups. We know of no comparable service which is as simple, non-commercial (no advertisements), respectful of privacy and suitable for low- bandwidth users in the South. An increasing number of development and human rights organisations need online workgroups and platforms for discussion and joint planning. Instead of creating separate solutions, here is a platform tailor made for civil society networks. The Dgroup partners Dgroups is a collaborative project created by a group of partner organisations: OneWorld Bellanet DFID ICA IICD UNAIDS The system is currently hosted by Bellanet on behalf of the partnership, but the Dgroups brand belongs to all partners equally.
