To complement our team, we expect to recruit an enthusiastic and team-orientated colleague. IICD’s mission is to assist developing countries in the use of ICT as a strategic tool for sustainable development and poverty alleviation. IICD does this through empowering local organisations and stakeholders to make effective use of ICTs on their own terms, and through catalysing lessons learned and knowledge sharing on ICTs by local organisations and the international community.

You will be responsible for ICT capacity development of our local partners in one or two developing countries. To start with this will be Tanzania.

To facilitate online surveys, IICD has recently launched an open source tool that helps non-profits in conducting monitoring and evaluation of their programmes.

Applications are invited for the second round of GenARDIS, a grant aimed at addressing gender issues in ICTs for agricultural and rural development in Africa, the Caribbean and the Pacific. Ten non-renewable grants of up to 5,000 Euros are available for which applications should reach by 25 February 2005.

The IICD telecentre pilot project started in Mali in 2002. According to the analysis, while local expertise has done away with technological problems, the international evaluators are working on a financial strategy to reduce dependence on heavy donor funding.
