SAW was established in 1993 by women who realise the need to promote the rights of women in Malawi. SAW is A nON profit Making, Non Governental Organization.
Mission
SAW's mission is to achieve a genderless society that embraces and respects the rights of both men and women.
Objective
SAW main objective is to promote the rights of women through provision of intervention structures address Gender Based Violence and ensure equal participation of women at levels.
Activities
SAW's main activities are to
Provide Legal advice and representation in court to victims (women)of human rights violations
Provide counseling services to both victims and perpetors of GBV.
Provide temporary accommodation to women who have been displaced because of domestic Violence.
SAW provides awareness and sensitization programs on women rights and legal rights,Gender Mainstraming and constitutionalism in four districts in Malawi. These are Lillongwe,Nchtisi, Dowa and Mzimba.
Structure
SAW's has an Executive Board of 8 Members who are elected every two year at the General Assembly.
Secretariat
SAW's secratariat is sitauted in Lilongwe at Plot 127 Area 3.
SAW employs 11 professional staffs and it is headed by the Executive Director. Other staffs are Legal Office, Program Officer, Finance/Adminstration officer, 2 Field Officers,4 project Coordinators, Accounts Assistant, Information Officer and Adminstrative Officer.
