Development in Action

DiA is a development NGO run by young people for young people. We aim to enhance young people's wider education in the UK and in India. We offer 5 month (Sept-Feb) and 2 month (July-Sept) volunteer placements in India. DiA is about empowering people to engage with some of the major challenges for development, to take stock of these challenges and build them into educational or advocacy resources to disseminate in the UK. During their placements, candidates get hands-on experience of grassroot development, and are encouraged to engage in the wider issues of global citizenship and sustainable development. Each volunteer is supported in the planning and production of a ’DIA Project’. The DiA Projects build on the volunteer’s experience to produce awareness-raising or development education resources (e.g. contribution to DiA’s travelling exhibition).
