Sri Lankan organisation Sarvodaya is holding a meditation for peace initiative on October 2, 2006 - Mahatma Gandhi's birthday - at the sacred city of Anuradhapura. Sarvodaya expects to host one million people from all over the world - the largest gathering in Sri Lankas history - clad in white clothes to meditate for peace.

The Sarvodaya Information Technology programme initiated in 1997, in a small room as a pilot project using a single computer intended to serve villages of Rathnapura District has been extended to other Sri Lankan districts as well, making it a national level telecentre project.
