Nonviolent Peaceforce

Nonviolent Peaceforce is an unarmed, professional civilian peacekeeping force that is invited to work in conflict zones worldwide. Nonviolent Peaceforce has worked in the conflict areas of Sri Lanka, the Philippines and Guatemala. Among other activities, it works with local groups to foster dialogue among parties in conflict, provide a proactive presence and safe spaces for civilians, and develop local capacity to prevent violence. Staff includes veterans of conflict zones and experienced peacekeepers. Nonviolent Peaceforce works to achieve four goals: 1. To deploy teams, learn from field projects, and build a body of expertise regarding large-scale nonviolent peacekeeping. 2. To demonstrate to decision makers, opinion leaders, and others the productive role and impact nonviolent international presence makes in areas of conflict. 3. To identify, train and support peacekeepers, and maintain an up-to-date roster of available professionals. 4. To encourage and support efforts that foster lasting peace in conflict zones worldwide.
