The Nepalese government and Maoist rebels have signed a code of conduct to find a peaceful solution to the conflict in the Himalayan kingdom. The code prohibits them from attacking the other and adopting aggressive measures. The two will also release all captives.

Nearly 14 Nepalese rebels detained in the Mahendranagar jail escaped after beating police officials. The rebels had been arrested in western Nepal along with modern weapons.

The US has once again warned the Maoists rebels not to prevail, even as the rebels and the Nepalese government continue peace talks to solve the 7 years long crisis. The US had earlier welcomed the ceasefire initiated by the Maoists.
