01.07.2004 Pregnancy and childbirth are the leading causes of teenage death in developing countries, according to the 2004 State of the World's Mothers Report from Save the Children. The report focuses on the tens of millions of girls around the world who marry and have babies while still children themselves.

17.06.2004 The conflict in Darfur has affected more than 2 million people. Approximately 10,000 people have died, and over 110,000 are living as refugees in eight camps along Chad’s eastern border. Save the Children has launched an emergency appeal for its work in food security, health, child protection, education, water and sanitation in Darfur.

11.06.2004 In 2000, 57% of Egyptian girls ages 6–12 had never been in school or had completed only a part of their primary education (the equivalent figure for boys was 41%). Citigroup Foundation is participating in innovative and effective efforts in rural localities in Upper Egypt to support girls’ education and reduce the disparity in school enrollment.
