Salary: £32583 £ 36692 pa (incl LA)
Based in: London (with international travel)
Christian Aids Humanitarian Division is looking for a Senior Policy & Research Officer with research and programme experience in international development, to join their dynamic team. This is a unique opportunity to manage the policy and research work of our multi-million, global DFID-funded Building Disaster Resilient Communities project and to lead on the organisations advocacy for disaster risk reduction.
You should have substantial experience in managing research in international development, in particular on sustainable livelihoods or related issues, and be a confident and articulate communicator. You will have sound knowledge of disaster risk reduction and climate change debates, and first hand experience of working on humanitarian or development programmes in the field. You will be able to conduct primary research as well as manage complex research programmes in collaboration with academic institutions and development partners. You will be able to represent Christian Aid in relevant UK-based and international advocacy networks and turn research findings into clear programme advice and public policy recommendations.
You should have a relevant qualification in Development studies or similar subject and substantial experience of managing research for policy and advocacy. Additionally, you will require excellent verbal and written communication skills. Proficiency in Spanish and/ or Portuguese would be an added advantage.
